pictured above is my gym.
Tonight I did some 100m sprints (medium intensity), strict pullups, and pistols. It was def. a mistake not packing my jump rope and rings, but oh well, you live and learn.
That brings me to another point. The moment the Midatlantic Regional Qualifier workouts were posted, people immediately began to freak out and attempt to strategize. It’s become quite annoying and I believe many of you are making matters worse! Yes, lets be excited/nervous for the qualifiers, but think about why we do this. I want to feel good, move good and look good……and be happy doing it. So many people are stressing over “rowing strategy” and “the fastest way to do box jumps”. I heard such complaints as the “WOD’s are too heavy”, “the runs are not long enough” and “these favor heavy people” and so on!!!!! What happened to being prepared for the unknown and unknowable. Forget about the gaming and techniques and tips and arrive Saturday morning and work your ass off!! Be a part of something so incredible and legendary, that you should feel honored to just have participated. If the most stressful thing in your life right now is that 275lb deadlifts are too heavy for you, then your life is pretty good!!! My good friend Rich Vos told me some very good advice when I was complaining about 400m runs. He said “catch the guy in front of you and stay ahead of the guy behind you”. AKA - just work your butt off, leave NOTHING in the tank and the rest will fall into place!
Come game day are you going to be worried about box jump cycle rate, rower damper settings and glycogen restoring, or are you going to put some of that on the back burner and get to experience history in the making first hand?
